I'm Lene Kieberl, surface pattern designer and creative mind behind lenes_linien. I create seamlessly repeating designs (surface patterns) for all surfaces and products from my home studio in Vienna, Austria. Digital and modern, yet sumptuously textured and hand-crafted with care and love! I incorporate current design trends while always moulding them into my own distinctive style: kinetic and organic, mostly vibrant and illustrative, often quirky and whimsical and ALMOST always with a dose of humour.

Wherever there's a space that's in need of some love and that certain something, patterns can work magic! By repeating elements in a rhythmic way that's pleasing the eye, a pattern becomes more than the sum of its parts. Seeing how it repeats in the end is one of the best points in that process for me, but nothing beats seeing them come to life on real products!

 

Privately, I love being in my own head designing, listening to podcasts and music on endless repeat (see a pattern there?). I love hiking, coffeehouses and gardening. Growing my own hot chilis and making my own kimchi has become a bit of an obsession with me! I am good at noticing wondrous tiny details in everyday life. And I enjoy experimental cooking, novels, history, strolling through museums and soaking up art & design in general. I’m lucky to be living in the perfect place for all of that!
