Make (it) your own!

What a thrill to find a length of fabric in your favorite colour or a gorgeous pattern and instantly seeing what you could do with it! But what if you don't even have to look for it, what if you could take out the random?

Sewing future favorites is a wonderful thing.

Whether you can sew yourself and make (it) your own or leave it to professionals: Not only can you achieve a good fit for your body type that off-the-shelf stuff won't deliver and help combat fast fashion ugliness and overproduction. You can also express yourself and communicate through your choice of designs and colours.

That's what my talented friend Katharina did. She decided she was in need of some dopamine hues and wanted to start sewing her own shirts. Ordering three very different fabric designs that spoke to her, little did she know that they would seamlessly integrate with her tattoos!  (Neither did I when designing them, for that matter, but I love the effect!) Imagine her wearing pants in perfectly complementing colours...

Speaking of colours: You don't need expensive colour type coaching to know what makes you glow. I'll bet you already have a few stunners in your closet and can see the difference when putting them on.

So get out your favorites and take a close look!

With such a quick rummage on the one hand and modern print on demand on the other, you have all possibilities to (re)create something you'll love. Platforms such as Loominate.eu (Europe) or Spoonflower.com (US), where I distribute my lenes_linien fabric designs, offer great tools to hit the styling nail on the head.

Make (it) your own with a Colour Map on your favorite fabric

Not only can you order my designs on fabric, there's also a way to get your favorite solid colour on whatever type and in any amount that you want. If you have a certain project in mind and want to make sure, you can order a so-called colour map printed on any fabric of your choice! This is a gamechanger for interior designers and DIY people alike. It's especially useful when

  • sewing combos or patchwork: balance by combining pattern designs with unicolour blocks or "solids".

  • you want to do upholstery or home decor that fits your preferred interior colour schemes

  • you know the colours that suit you but the fashion industry wants to swathe you in piglet pink these days?! Resist and make your wardrobe sing to your tune!

Loominate's colour map features 719 precisely printed colours of the hexadecimal colour system, well-translated to the realm of print and available by the meter.

Preferably in indirect daylight, you can position it against something in your favorite colours and find the best match available.

Pro Tip: if you're undecided between two shades, you can always go for a Loominator mix metre:

  1. you look for the hex codes or colour names here https://www.loominate.eu/en/solid-colours and save your favorites by clicking the heart symbol in the corner.

  2. You then go to https://www.loominate.eu/en/loominator and choose fabric, layout and those saved colours (from 2 up to 9 is possible!). Et voilá!

PS: If you're looking for one specific colour found in one of my designs or are missing a shade inbetween, that can be arranged, too. Let me know what you are looking for, and I can extract any colour or adapt saturation, lightness or hue to better fit your needs and make it available for print on demand in a matter of hours.
